Hmm I get the opposite. No completions for anything.

That seems worse.

You might have the venv from yesterday selected? At least double check that in the bottom right of the window.

I'm going to open a bug for what's happening to me.

Repro steps:

1. Create folder
2. uv init
3. uv add rich
4. Open the folder in VS code
5. Select the .venv created as the interpreter
6. Wait for indexing to complete
7. Type get_console.

Expected result:

It finds the get_console in the rich addition

Strangely, I used to have the same issue, but after something I did which was some combination of

• Editing rich/__init__.py to comment out the __all__ variable
• Modifying the python.analysis.autoImportCompletions setting
• Modifying the python.analysis.showOnlyDirectDependenciesInAutoImport setting
• Modifying the python.analysis.packageIndexDepths setting
• Running the Python: Clear Cache and Reload Window command

it now gives me auto import completions for the entire library. That is get_console adds from rich import get_console, and Console adds from rich.console import Console, etc.

Changing those settings back does not restore the original behavior of not providing any completions though, and I don't remember which specific thing I did triggered the change, so I haven't been able to narrow down what caused the change in behavior that much. All I remember is that it definitely did not change until sometime after I modified __init__.py, but I also did some other things around the same time.

I have even tried creating a completely blank project and running

uv init
uv add rich

to get a fresh environment and unmodified copy of rich, and it still gives me completions.
